Regular Loans – Books borrowed under the regular loan system which are not returned on the date due shall attract a fine of #20.00 per day.
Short and Weekend Loan – Books charged out under the short and weekend loans system which are not returned at the specific hour shall attract a fine of #20.00 per hour.
Note: Any full-time student who has borrowed the total number of books to which he is entitled is still eligible to borrow reserve books either on the short-term loan or on the weekend loan.
Reservation – A borrower may reserve any book that is on loan by completing reservation slip to be collected from the Circulation Desk. When the book is available, notice will be on the Library Notice Board to inform the intended borrower. The book will be held only for one day after the notice has been pasted. If the borrower who requested for it does not call after a days notice, the book shall be given to the next person on the reserve list or returned to the regular shelf.
Damaged Library Material – If a borrower damages any library material he will have to pay the estimated cost of repair (if possible) but not exceeding the current cost with 10% administrative handling charges of the material. At times, the defaulter is allowed to buy the exact replacement if he can.
Lost Materials
- If a borrower looses a library material he will have to pay the current price which will be determined from the appropriate Library sources.
- In addition, ordering and processing fees shall be charged on all lost materials which is usually 10% of the price of the lost item.
- When lost item has been paid for, the overdue fines will be dropped.
- If a borrower locates an item after these charges have been paid, the borrower may keep the item. The Library will not refund the money paid for the lost materials.
Please note that the privileges to borrow from and use the library will be denied to users who fail to clear outstanding charges. If such charges remain outstanding by the end of the session in which they are incurred, the Polytechnic Librarian will make recommendations for further action to the appropriate committee of the Polytechnic.
