All students, academic and other eligible senior staff are expected to register in the Library on admission and appointment, respectively.
All newly admitted students must undergo the compulsory Library orientation before they are registered in the Library.
Registration of students takes place at the Circulation desk immediately, after the Library orientation.
Students must collect registration cards at the circulation desk. Students who fail to complete Library Registration formalities during the exercise may not enjoy borrowing facilities.
Students must present their admission letters and receipts for payment of school fees before being issued with Library registration card.
Student should complete the registration card and give to his Head of Department for endorsement.
The endorsed card should be returned to the circulation desk in the Library with students’ passport photograph. A Library ticket will thereafter be issued to the student by the circulation librarian.
For freshers, the following items are required for Library Registration:
- Clearance form from the school
- Payment receipt(s)
- 2 recent passport photographs
- Registration number
Registration is done at the beginning of each session for all students. To renew your Library Registration, you need to produce:
- Your old Library ticket
- School fees payment receipt(s)
- Confirmation of your studentship by your HOD

Reference Materials – Periodicals, Journals and books stamped “Reference” are regarded as Reference materials and must be used strictly in the Library arvostelu.
Yes! Since the reference materials are not meant to be taken outside of the Library. But it must be within the Library opening hours of vacations
A full-time student is entitled to borrow two books for a period of two weeks. While a staff is entitled to borrow two books for a period of one month. Books can be recommended by lecturers to be placed on reserve. These books can be borrowed on a short term loan. Any Library user is eligible to borrow one reserve book for a period of two hours, renewable thereafter if no other reader has requested for the book. Reserve books are to be read within the Library.
The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is an automated catalogue on which all the Library database are stored. Accessing Library materials through the OPAC is faster and easier than through manual catalogue. Koha is the software on which the Lagos State Polytechnic Library database runs.
Yes! Materials that can be found in the main library consist of textbooks, journals, magazines, newspapers, government documents, special collections, reference materials, past projects/dissertation, past questions, e-resources on all disciplines and inaugural lectures series.
Personal belongings such as bags, brief cases, folders, umbrellas, cameras, etc. must be deposited at the cloak behind the Porters desk at OWNERS RISK.
Photocopying is part of the services rendered by the library and is being effected under the following guide:
- N5.00 per print for non-official documents
- Requests for photocopying regarding the above category of materials should be directed to the staff on duty in the photocopying room.
- Users are requested to bring the exact amount of money required to avoid delays.
- Patrons should please request for a receipt.
Photocopying will be done according to the following priorities:
- Internal requests from the library
- Requests from other departments
- Requests from individuals
Hours of Service
- Staff at the Photocopying unit are normally available between the hours of 9.00a.m. – 4.00p.m. (Mondays – Fridays)
- A same day service is usually available provided work is handed over to the staff at the Photocopying unit not later than 2.00p.m. between Monday – Friday.
